What is the best day to post my mailing?
We recommend posting your mail so it will arrive on Saturday, because that is a day when many people have more time to spare and
are more likely to read your mail fully. Therefore:
- If you're using 1st Class stamps, post on Friday
- If you're using 2nd Class stamps, post on Thursday
Some of my mail has been returned undelivered
A certain amount of undeliverable mail is to be expected with any mailing list. The person may have moved house or the address may
be incorrect, for instance. Our policy is to supply an excess of 5% on top of the quantity you order to take this into account. In
the extremely unlikely event you have more than 5% returns (it hasn't happened yet but there's always a first time!) please return
all of the returned envelopes to us and we will refund the purchase price of your list IN FULL.
Some of the sheets of labels are blank
If you find one or more blank sheets of labels within your list, usually it is because our printer has taken two sheets at a
time instead of one and therefore the blank sheet makes no difference to the total. Please count the labels which have come out
correctly: you should have the total number you ordered, plus 5% extra.
Can I have a discount if I order more lists?
Once we have set up an account for you with your first order, it is much quicker to process additional orders. Therefore when
you re-order you will qualify for 10% discount off the website prices. However you must place your order by telephone to request
your discount because there is no facility to do this on the website ordering system.
I ordered my list as a data file, but I can't open it
WHY won't the file open?
Your PC has not encountered the .dbf database file type before and doesn’t know which program to use to open it. If you try to view
your database using incompatible software you can see some strange-looking results! This is not a fault with the data or your
computer.
DON'T PANIC!
DO THIS . . .
1. Double-click on your file.
2. If Windows does not know which program to use to open the file, a dialog box will open like the one shown opposite (fig. 1)
3. Click Select the program from a list
4. Click OK
A second dialog box opens, with the title Open With (see below)
5. In the Open With dialog box,
highlight the program you want to use (e.g. Microsoft Excel) with a single click of the mouse.
6. TICK the checkbox which says: “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”
(If you aren't sure if the program you're choosing will work, leave this box unticked)
7. Click OK
The file should now open correctly. If you get strange looking results, you might have chosen an incompatible program, such as
Microsoft Word which is a word processor and therefore cannot open database files.
If you have problems, close any open windows and go back to our file.
RIGHT-CLICK on the file and choose Open With.. from the pop-up menu. A dialog box appears (fig. 2)
Then continue from step 5 above.
NOTE: If Open With does not appear in the list when you RIGHT-click your file. Try holding down the Left Ctrl AND Left Shift
keys at the same time as you Right-Click on your file (this is necessary on some earlier versions of Windows: e.g. Win98).
If you think the .dbf database file is faulty...
We have test-read your file before sending and we have NEVER YET supplied a faulty file. With respect it is much more likely
that (a) you have not followed these instructions properly or (b) your PC has no compatible software installed. However there's
always a first time and if you think the file is faulty please return the file for analysis to support@onestoplistshop.co.uk. We can
either send a replacement or print the data onto paper for you and send it by post.
Notes:
- The file you have ordered is a .DBF file. You will need a compatible program to display the file correctly. For example,
Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access.
